Job Title:      Holiday Scheme Cook - Part-Time

Contract:      Fixed-term (4 weeks 25th Jul - 19th Aug)

Hours:          20 hours per week (4 hrs per day 10 am - 2 pm)               

Salary:         £12.38   per/hr including holiday pay

Responsible to: Childcare Services Manager

Support Team:  Childcare Services Team

The Job

To plan, prepare and cook one nutritious meal per day for up to 35 children over four weeks of the summer holidays at Mary’s. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Assist the Childcare Services Manager with the planning and budgeting of the menu
    2. Procure all the necessary ingredients
    3. To maintain the highest health, hygiene and safety standards for food service.
    4. To take responsibility for the preparation, presentation and serving of all meals.
    5.  Correct and safe use of all kitchen equipment
    6. To manage and control all food, checking equipment and materials are used correctly, closely monitoring portion control.
    7. To ensure that routine data is collected as required and that all daily checks, including temperature control during production, preparation, service and storage are carried out properly
    8. Clear away, clean and wash up.
    9. Hygienic disposal of waste food etc.
    10. To ensure routine day-to-day cleaning of kitchen equipment, work surfaces, kitchen floors and storage areas.


    1. Adhere to Mary’s policies regarding health and safety and safeguarding.
    2. Act in a highly professional manner and as a worthy representative of Mary’s to the children, parents and staff
    3. Attend relevant training as required.
