CLOSING: 18 AUG 2022

Mary’s Youth Club works with young people aged between 10 - 19 (up to 25 for young people with disabilities), offering an open youth club with opportunities to share, grow, learn and enjoy.

Programmes run Monday to Friday, with most activities taking place on-site and satellite sessions delivered with our partners. Young people can spend time in the centre with games consoles, table football and comfy sofas. We also have a sports hall, a gym, dance studio, kitchen and classroom. We encourage and support members to organise their own activities.

We have a reputation for being a safe and friendly youth club, our members, despite the issues that some of them face, are welcoming, inclusive and genuinely good-natured; they describe it as ‘like a family’. All our youth services staff are committed to youth work, its ethics and its values. We have a strong sense of duty to young people, our community and the sector as a whole. We value reflective practice, lifelong learning and equality and justice for all.

Our delivery programme includes life skills sessions such as cooking, first aid, and sports and fitness programmes like football, basketball and yoga. We signpost and support young people onwards to further opportunities and agencies. All programmes and activities are secular, and we welcome those from all faiths and none.

Mary’s is an outward-facing, progressive charity, continuously developing its youth work practice. We expect our youth work to grow, and this role to grow along with it. The successful candidate will be working to progress to senior youth worker, with greater responsibility (and pay), so they will have lots of ambition and drive.

Mary’s is an established and well-regarded vibrant charity at the heart of Islington, working with the whole cross-section of the local community delivering services for children and young people and running facilities for community groups and residents. From 1 April 2023, Mary’s will be starting a new chapter focusing all its attention on young people and the development of Islington’s youth sector and is assembling a dynamic team to resource this work and meet the expanding opportunities that come with this change.
