(To understand our list a little bit better, you can scroll down to the bottom of the page. Then you’ll understand why we are asking for these things, because, despite how it might seem, youth work isn’t just fun and games!)
We play a lot of games with the young people and this net means we can transfrom the sports hall, and also take the games outside during warmer weather
The young people love to play music, and as well as encouraging movement, music is a great way to bring the us all together through shared experiences and songs
As we work with young women aged 10-19 we are often part of the conversation around self-care and puberty, and sometimes the youth club is the safest place to explore these topics
Many of the young people have difficulty concentrating and need additional stimuli to help them focus, fidget toys are great for this, (though we prefer the quiet ones please!)
It's not unusual for a young person to not have a rain coat. These ponchos are great, cost-effective, option for our outdoor activities, to wear over the top of their existing coats
A classic staple for a youth club! An excellent way of encouraging team work and getting young people off their devices

Mary’s Youth work operates under the foundational principle of a 'Balanced Programme.'Click on the image above to read more, but in essence all of the programmes that we offer at Mary's are designed to incorporate four areas of growth and development for our young people: well-being and fitness, creativity, skills for life and social action.
The activities that we do with the young people throughout the month and year are thought out and planned in accordance with the four areas, and are ultimately designed to provide a safe container for young people to grow and develop over the long term, as they move through the transitional phases from childhood to adulthood.
We try, as best as we can, to cater for the different needs of the young people that engage with us and provide as many options as possible, as we understand that what helps one young person to feel safe, empowered and heard, may be different to what helps the next.
And, of course, as we are working with young people, we make sure that all of our activities are fun. Youth Club is optional, and to encourage young people to exercise their choice to turn up and engage, we have to make it enjoyable.
