Simbi, better known by her stage name, Little Simz is from Islington and she spent many years at Mary’s Community centre enhancing her skills. And (once again) we were immensely proud of her getting a prestigious award.

In my interview with BBC London News I reminded viewers that “for many young people, just as Simbi’s case, Mary’s is a very important place to discover what your talents are, be able to collaborate with others to work on creativity and think about what and where the next steps are gonna be”.

Simbi’s success and career can make us only proud of her, especially the inspiration she generates for young people in Islington. She often credits Mary’s Youth Club’s strong influence on her career, describing it as “the place where it all began for me … a second home”.
