What to bring(and not to bring)

Prepare for Fun!

We will be doing lots of outdoor activities. Participants will be getting wet and dirty so please don’t pack the best stuff; this includes clothing, electronics, and jewellery (or anything else they do not want to risk being damaged or lost).

What you should bring with you?

If you have any issues getting any of these items, please speak to us as we might have some extras.

You should also put a name or initials on everything packed; this will help get it back if it gets lost (and then found.)

Important Info

Considerations:

  • The shower floor has reportedly been ‘unpleasant to stand on’ in the past. Some sliders or waterproof shoes might be useful if this is a worry. Don’t plan to wear your only pair of shoes in the shower and then walk around in wet trainers, this isn’t fun for you or us.

Please Note:

  • Tough boots or trainers are for protection against injury. Hiking boots are ideal. Steel toe caps are not advised. Flip-flops, sandals and other flimsy shoes can be worn around the site, but not on activities. Campsites can (and will) get muddy, so wellies are good if you have them.
  • Waterproof jackets and trousers MUST be ‘waterproof’. A soggy person means problems for them and us! An umbrella doesn’t count.
  • No alcohol or illegal drugs.
  • Knives should not be brought; we may be doing some camp skills, but we will use the survival knives we use for activities under close supervision.
  • Do not bring portable speakers, in our experience these get broken quickly and/or cause a nuisance.
  • We’ll be travelling by train; campers will be responsible for carrying their stuff on the journey. Don’t overpack. If they do, we may have to leave some of their stuff behind in the office at the centre. If they feel they can’t live without this stuff, they can go home and spend more time with their stuff while we go off and have fun.
  • Any medication must be listed on the permission form, including paracetamol and antihistamines. It may need to be locked away and given to them at the right time. This ensures it is there when they need it and not lost or accidentally thrown away.
