London Youth Prize Winners

sometimes youth work comes with great prizes!

Youth Workers are amazing at seizing opportunities and when Beatrix, our *SIS Project youth worker , saw an opportunity to participate in a survey with UK Youth she grabbed the chance!

Her task was to interview a young person, asking them three questions. Bea recorded their answers and submitted them to UK Youth and the two were the lucky winners of £250 each

(*the SIS project is a weekly girls group that focuses on wellbeing and identity, with empowering group activities and debates, occasional trip and access to 1-2-1 mentoring and/or therapy)

Below is a copy of the winning questions and answers!

Question 1. When you’re not at school, what clubs or opportunities do you take part in? What do you enjoy the most about them?

I normally come to Mary’s after school. I have friends here, that’s why I enjoy it, mostly.

Question 2. Apart from teachers or your family, who are the adults you trust and can go to for support? How do these adults support you?

You guys, the staff, the youth workers. I can talk to you and tell you stuff and then you won’t go to my parents straight away. Like how teachers would do.

Question 3. What would make the clubs and opportunities you take part in better? What other clubs or opportunities would you like to take part in? What other support would be helpful for you?

I know we go out a lot, but probably more opportunities to go to new places because we normally go to the same places most of the time.

We change our timetable every term and have new and exciting opportunities (as well as some old favourites) throughout the year.
