We offer volunteering opportunities all year round and have loads of opportunities for you to get involved. Time commitment will vary depending on the roles. Let us know what you can contribute, and we will find opportunities that suit you. Below are some examples of how you can get involved. 

Youth Support Volunteer

We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated, and energetic individuals eager to volunteer with young people between the ages of 10 – 19. As a Youth Support Volunteer, you will assist Mary’s Youth Club team in providing inspiring opportunities to young people in Mary’s Youth Club. With excellent listening skills and the ability to empathise, you will build relationships of respect and trust and help maintain a welcoming, caring, safe and fun environment for Mary’s Youth Club young people. We have opportunities throughout the week, but are especially keen for volunteers Monday to Thursday afternoons & evenings from 3:30PM – 9:30PM.

Reception Volunteer

Join the team at our lively neighbourhood centre. As Reception Volunteer you will be the friendly face that meets and greets visitors and helps facilitate covering the busy reception desk and acting as the first point of contact. The Reception Volunteers help us maintain an efficient and friendly front desk and telephone answering service by supporting us with a range of tasks. All volunteering roles start with induction and training and you will receive plenty of support along the way.

Digital Marketing Assistant

The role holder will have the opportunity to assist with the following tasks:

  • Development of social media campaigns to drive engagement
  • Utilising google my business, maps and google ads applications to grow services and brand awareness of the charity
  • Create video content for the charity's website
  • Link placement on external sites 

Other digital marketing related activities.
Volunteering hrs:  5-10 hrs per week some of which can be done remotely

Content / Copy Producer 

The role holder will have the opportunity to assist with the following tasks:
  • Researching materials and stories to promote the charity's work 
  • Writing and editing inspiring and informative copy for a variety of audiences and channels
  • Producing newsletters for printed and online publication
  • Develop copy for digital & printed displays addressing communication briefs
Other communications-related activities.  

Volunteering hrs:  5-10 hrs per week some of which can be done remotely

Student Placement

Join us on your placement, learn about our services, pick up a range of new skills and contribute!

You can see Youth Work come alive if you join our youth club team! We regularly welcome Youth Work students as part of our team at Mary’s Youth Club and find that these partnerships are always mutually beneficial.

Experience what it's like delivering quality childcare by joining our early years childcare team in Mary's Pre-school. We have helped worked with many students over the years, some ended up taking up employment with us following completion of their studies.

We can also take Business students into our bookings department where they can learn and help with our community hub operations or Communication Students contributing to our publicity work.

Help (mainly older) Folk Acquire Basic IT Skills

Coffee & Computers at Mary’s offers one-to-one/small group help to our attendees. Help attendees achieve what they want to and on their own devices, they quickly begin to get used to the environment and gaining benefit from it. We are looking for volunteers to help us at our sessions which takes place the third Tuesday of each month. The most important requirement to be a volunteer is patience, coupled with a very basic familiarity with the most common devices in use today.

Monthly Volunteering Opportunities for Young People

We offer monthly volunteering opportunities for young people ages 10 – 19 with flexibility of hours, the opportunity to engage with a variety of organisations and a group of peers with which to volunteer. Since inception, the young people have engaged in a variety of volunteering projects, which included making over 300 sandwiches donated to St Stephens The Manna, making cats and dog toys for the rescued animals at The Mayhew Animal Home, and prepared 45 backpacks filled with essentials items for the young services user at The Pilion Trust Crash Pad Service just to name a few.
